A blessing that's coming tomorrow... we got a call from the Robinsdale Women's Center. They are training new volunteers on the ultra sound machine and want to use me as a test bunny! They asked if I would volunteer to get an ultra sound tomorrow... Ummm, DUH!! They guy teaching the sonographers has 20 years of experience and we will know the sex of BB TOMORROW!!!!! Can't wait to share the good news with you guys!! What a blessing of finding out the sex before David leaves and while we are with two of four grandparents!

The Broadmoor
Last weekend when David came home we celebrated his return by staying a night at the Broadmoor! It was so much fun to "get away" and enjoy a new/historical part of Colorado Springs!
We checked in and the concierge saw that the mini frig was a little dirty. The manager sent us a hand written apology along with some nuts and a bottle of wine! It was a nice little treat but... we had to save the wine until after Baby Blom :)
Here we are enjoying the grounds of the hotel after our dinner at the Summit restaurant. The Broadmoor has fire pits throughout the grounds, paddle boats on this lake in the back ground and a lot of restaurants and bars to choose from. It was a beautiful place to stay and we enjoyed being together.

Rockford Rockin' Good Times
David and I are relaxing at the Blomgren's on their four season porch! We have had a really great vacation so far. We took our drive to IL in two spurts driving on Thursday night after work about 8 hours to Kearney, NE and finished it off on Friday evening. I have to say, I still do not enjoy road trips... especially 16 hour ones :) One of the fun things about the trip is listening to books on tape! To and from work I have been listening to Through Gates of Splendor by Elizabeth Elliot.
The book helped me understand the story of her husband Jim Elliot and their journey with the Auca Indians. I was always under the assumption that Jim and the other four men just landed by the Auca's territory and were killed. Their story is so much deeper, one of love for these lost Indians and a passion to help them come to know God.

I also started the book My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult and so far, I am very intrigued! I am going to try out a book club this coming month and this is the chosen book.
Back to our trip! Since we've been here we've managed to see grandparents, attend a family wedding, sleep in, have all the Blomgren's together (this hasn't happened in almost two years and I'm talking just the immediate family!), have all three "granddogs" meet/play/fight and eat some good home cooked meals. We have had a wonderful time and are planning on continuing that tonight at the Cubs game!!

Useless Training
At least, I hope so. I just got back from Advanced Contingency Skills Training at Fort Dix, NJ. It was a 3 1/2 week course on how not to get killed in Iraq. Being a lawyer, I didn't have too much knowledge on combat...until now. It was actually very interesting and quite enjoyable. Most of it was hands-on training, such as convoying, night ops, hand-to-hand combat, combat first aid, etc. I also became much more familiar with the weapons I'll be carrying (M-9 and M-16). Knowing that I'll be gone for 6 months soon, it was nice to come home. Here are some pictures from the training.

Staying Connected.
Friday, May 1, 2009
The night before David left for training Wrigley and I helped get him ready. With the packing list and highlighter in hand we told David all the stuff he needed!
We were both sad to see David pack up!
Some of the gear (there was a lot of gear). Flack vest (very heavy), helmet, medical kit, canteen and one of three bags he had to pack.
A few pieces of some ABU's and BDU's!
We miss you David! Can't wait to see you in two weeks from today!!!!!!
